Understanding Kinesiology Tape: Function and Benefits
by Andrei Razsadin, DC / Tarek Tawil, DC
Kinesiology tape is frequently observed on athletes such as swimmers, volleyball players, runners, basketball players, football players, soccer players, and others. It is utilized across various levels of athletic competition, including the Olympics, the NFL, the NBA, the NCAA, and high school sports. Beyond elite sports, kinesiology tape is also beneficial for everyday activities, assisting in reducing discomfort during work or play. Common areas for application include the neck, shoulder, lower back, knee, ankle, and foot.

Research indicates that kinesiology tape effectively supports muscles and joints during physical activities. Unlike conventional athletic tapes, kinesiology tape offers support without immobilizing body parts or restricting their range of motion. It distinguishes itself from other products with unique stretch visual elongation indicators.
The 25% and 50% stretch indicators on many tapes aid in the accurate application of tension to achieve the desired results, such as reducing discomfort or providing muscle and joint support.

Typically, kinesiology tape can be worn for up to five days and reapplied as necessary to meet your health objectives.
